Buying a Used BYD Atto 2 (2025 on): Boost vs Comfort & What to Pay

By Elace Grace··7 min read

The BYD Atto 2 is a compact electric SUV positioned below the Atto 3. UK sales began during 2025 with prices of £30,850 (Boost) and £34,950 (Comfort), and Boost deliveries started in September 2025. Most adverts are for new or ex-demo Atto 2s, often at substantial discounts. We cover both versions, why buying new may make more sense, the warranty and prices to pay. You will find a print-out checklist at the end.

The short version
  • Check new Comforts first: new Comforts, with the larger battery, were listed around £25,500, little above new Boost prices, compared with a £34,950 list price.
  • A nearly new Boost asks about £22,000, making it worthwhile only when its price is clearly lower than a new Comfort.
  • Long warranty: 6 years on the car and 8 years / 250,000 km on the battery, with a full BYD service history.
  • The Comfort goes further: a 64.8 kWh battery, plus quicker rapid charging than the 51 kWh Boost.

Which Atto 2 are you looking at?

  • Boost: 51.1 kWh LFP Blade battery, a 130 kW front motor, roughly 214 miles WLTP and peak rapid charging around 80 kW.
  • Comfort: 64.8 kWh battery and 150 kW motor, roughly 267 miles WLTP, with quicker rapid charging.

Both support up to 11 kW AC charging. The battery size shown in adverts identifies the version. BYD also offers an Atto 2 DM-i plug-in hybrid in Boost trim too. Adverts beginning “1.5” or referring to DM-i identify that hybrid rather than the electric model. Complete specifications are on the Atto 2 page.

Recalls

The government recall list recorded no Atto 2 recalls during October 2026. Still check the individual car using GOV.UK’s recall checker and ask a BYD dealer which software updates have been completed.

Warranty

BYD covers the car for 6 years or 150,000 km (about 93,000 miles) and the Blade battery for 8 years or 250,000 km (about 155,000 miles) against falling below 70% health. The cover transfers with a full BYD service history.

  • Registered 2025: car covered to 2031; battery to 2033.
  • Registered 2026: car covered to 2032; battery to 2034.

Realistic range

Our estimates for typical cars of each age use the battery-ageing model applied throughout the rest of EVcarsguide:

CarSummerYear-roundWinter
2025 Boost (51 kWh)178 miles157 miles132 miles
2026 Comfort (64.8 kWh)227 miles200 miles168 miles

These figures assume the battery has aged like a typical car’s. Gentle driving beats them, while fast motorway driving falls short.

What owners report

There is nothing yet. The Atto 2 only reached UK roads in late 2025, and our forum searches found no owner threads. Without an ownership history to draw on, the long warranty and test drive carry extra importance. We will add an owner summary when there is sufficient material.

What to pay

Used Atto 2 examples remain relatively uncommon, because new and ex-demo cars dominate most listings. These are used electric examples, excluding the DM-i plug-in hybrid:

CarsShare of advertsMedian askingTypical rangeMedian mileage
2025 Boost (51 kWh)24%£20,662£19,991–£21,9302,700
2026 Boost (51 kWh)58%£21,950£20,708–£23,7312,561
2026 Comfort (64.8 kWh)16%£25,490£23,494–£25,7951,997

Used or new? New and ex-demo adverts were well below list price, almost eliminating the price difference between the versions: around £25,500 for a Comfort and £25,000 for a Boost. At those prices, a new Comfort offers the bigger battery and full warranty for only around £3,500 above a nearly new Boost. A 2025 Boost around £20,700 is the lowest-priced entry point. The Atto 2 does not qualify for the government’s Electric Car Grant. Treat these as asking prices rather than valuations.

Questions to ask the seller

  1. Boost or Comfort (51 or 64.8 kWh)?
  2. Is the BYD service history complete? (The battery warranty depends on it.)
  3. Was this BYD a demonstrator or pre-registered car, and can the seller document its usage history?
  4. Which software updates have been installed on this BYD, and can the seller show the current version?
  5. Are all key cards, keys and the charging cable supplied, and can the seller demonstrate that they work?
