Buying a Used XPENG G6 (2025 on): Original vs Updated, Warranty & What to Pay

By Elace Grace··7 min read

The XPENG G6 is a coupé-SUV comparable in size to a Tesla Model Y, and XPENG’s first UK car. Deliveries began in March 2025 at £39,990 to £44,990, before a replacement G6 arrived within a year with new batteries and substantially faster charging. New and ex-demo G6s dominate adverts, with only around two in five used. We explain how to identify the G6 version, warranty cover, buying from a young brand, owner reports and prices to pay. You will find a print-out checklist at the end.

The short version
  • Big depreciation: a 2025 Long Range originally costing £44,990 new asks about £32,500.
  • The original Long Range has the biggest battery: 87.5 kWh and 354 miles WLTP, exceeding the updated model’s 326 miles, although charging is slower.
  • Long warranty: 5 years on the car and 8 years on the battery, so every used G6 is still covered.
  • A young brand: establish the location of your nearest XPENG dealer and service point before buying.

Which G6 are you looking at?

The original model, offered during 2025:

  • Standard Range: rear-wheel drive, a 66 kWh LFP battery, 270 miles WLTP and peak rapid charging of 215 kW. Uncommon used.
  • Long Range: rear-wheel drive, an 87.5 kWh NMC battery, 354 miles WLTP and peak charging of 280 kW. Most used G6s are this version.

The updated G6, on UK roads from 2026:

  • Standard Range: 68.5 kWh LFP, 292 miles and charging up to 382 kW.
  • Long Range: 80.8 kWh LFP, offering 326 miles and charging up to 451 kW. XPENG quotes 10–80% in 12 minutes.
  • Performance: four-wheel drive, 80.8 kWh, 316 miles and 0–62 mph in 4.1 seconds.

Listings usually specify the battery size, such as “87.5kWh Long Range” or “80kWh Long Range”, which tells you which version it is. Every variant supports up to 11 kW AC charging. Complete specifications are on the G6 page.

Recalls

The government recall list recorded no XPENG recalls during October 2026. Still check the individual car using GOV.UK’s recall checker because new campaigns are introduced regularly.

Warranty

XPENG UK provides car cover for 5 years or 75,000 miles and the battery for 8 years or 100,000 miles, with annual servicing or every 12,500 miles:

  • Registered 2025: car covered to 2030, or 75,000 miles; battery to 2033, or 100,000 miles.
  • Registered 2026: car covered to 2031, or 75,000 miles; battery to 2034, or 100,000 miles.

Buying from a young brand

XPENG uses UK importer International Motors and an expanding network of independent dealers. Its target of 20 dealerships by the end of 2025 was considerably smaller than established brands’ networks. Before buying, establish your nearest XPENG service point, likely parts delays and whether the selling dealer handles warranty repairs. Used prices have fallen rapidly, benefiting buyers but remaining relevant when the time comes to sell.

Realistic range

Our estimates for typical cars of each age use the battery-ageing model applied throughout the rest of EVcarsguide:

CarSummerYear-roundWinter
2025 Standard Range (66 kWh)226 miles199 miles167 miles
2025 Long Range (87.5 kWh)293 miles258 miles217 miles
2026 Long Range (80.8 kWh, updated)277 miles244 miles205 miles

These figures assume the battery has aged like a typical car’s. Gentle driving beats them, while fast motorway driving falls short.

What owners report

Evidence remains limited. The G6 has been on UK roads only since spring 2025 and sales volumes are small, leaving very few UK owner-forum threads. Available comments come from buyers rather than owners: they appreciate charging speed and value against a Tesla Model Y, but highlight sparse dealer coverage and delayed responses about finance. With little ownership history, warranty cover and the location of your nearest service point carry extra importance. We will add an owner summary when there are enough detailed threads to make useful reading for prospective buyers.

What to pay

Only around two in five advertised G6s are used. The table therefore contains two rows, separating the original model from its updated replacement:

CarsShare of advertsMedian askingTypical rangeMedian mileage
2025 Long Range 87.5 kWh (original)65%£32,500£29,881–£34,9959,000
2026 Long Range 80.8 kWh (updated)25%£42,000£40,150–£44,1943,000

Used or new? A new updated G6 costs £39,990 (Standard Range) to £49,990 (Performance), with new adverts close to these figures. A 2025 Long Range priced around £32,500 saves around £12,000 against a new Long Range, offering a larger battery and greater WLTP range but slower rapid charging. Used supply is limited, so travelling may be necessary. Treat these as asking prices, not valuations.

Questions to ask the seller

  1. Is it the original 87.5 kWh car or the updated 80.8 kWh car?
  2. Who has serviced this XPENG, and can the seller provide dated maintenance records and invoices?
  3. Which software updates have been installed on this XPENG, and can you check the current version during the viewing?
  4. Was this XPENG previously a demonstrator, company car or rental, and is its usage history documented?
  5. Who will handle warranty work, and where is the nearest XPENG service point?
